Song Trails South will include four artists; Clare Bowditch, Kev Carmody, Stephen Cummings (The Sports) and Dave Faulkner (Hoodoo Gurus) for a series of songwriting workshops in Murgon, Mundubbera, Gladstone and Maryborough.
Within the collaborative Song Trails environment, the touring artists offer tips on composing lyrics, how to overcome creative blocks and provide insight into the artistry and techniques required to complete that self-penned masterpiece.
Queensland Music Festival Artistic Director Deborah Conway is looking forward to seeing what comes out of this year’s workshops.
“Participants have the opportunity to have their existing songs critiqued as well as being able to write new songs in groups led by the artists and receive tips for successful song writing from the artistic team. So the wealth of skill and enthusiasm that is unearthed at the workshops is fantastic,” Ms Conway said.
These FREE four-hour evening workshops are open to everyone 16 years and above, from high school students to old time storytellers. In a relaxed and informal setting, participants are invited to tap into the wealth of experience from Australia’s greatest singer-songwriters.
Song Trails is a highly original and inclusive concept. The tour not only looks to engage and excite regional singer song-writers but the artists themselves are inspired by the journey,” Ms Conway said.
Attendance at the workshops is free, but pre-registration is necessary by 8 July.
